The definitive, comprehensive, indisputable, permanent, all time list of rock and roll singles.

There are many arguments about what the “best ever” website is. I wanted to render a service to the internet and settle all debate, once and for all. These are the highest and best ever rock songs, and you can let me think, so you don’t have to.

10.) U2: Desire: The most underrated tune from the most overrated band. They get enough link love.

9.) The Hold Steady: Chips Ahoy: A new entry to the list, the Hold Steady’s signature tune will withstand the test of time, all criticism, and make you turn into a better man. (You can hear a free webcast of their music tonight @ 8:30)

8.) John Lennon- Instant Karma: Paul’s body work was better, but damn did this guy reach some highs.

7.) Nirvana: Lithium: One song brings us all back to the Clinton administration.

6.) Dan Bern: Black Tornado: “My soul is intact”

5.) Republica: Ready To Go We ready for the nineties yet? We ready to shout it out?

4.) Bruce Springsteen: Thunder Road: You don’t have to be from Jersey to want to break out and trade in your wings for some wheels. Bruce is the all time rockingest person.

3.) Golden Earring: Radar Love- If you’re sane, you’ll love this song.

2.) Bob Dylan- Like A rolling Stone. The hype is right. This song is as good as advertised.

1.) Foo Fighters: Everlong: Simply put: there is no easier song to get lost in, no more fun song to play loud than the Foo Fighters.

This should permanently end the debate on which rock song is the “all time best”.

Chris,

The fact that you left Bonjovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” off of this list SEVERELY hampers your credibility (kidding).

All joking aside, how can you miss “Livin’ on a Prayer” and Goo Goo Dolls’ “Long Way Down”?

I’m questioning my decision to subscribe to your feed. ;-)

Love your blog, and congrats on the contributor spot on Blown Mortgage.
