Hi,

Disclaimer: I work for Applicom.
However, if I can give my (biased) 2c, project management and CRM should be tied together.
We developed Apollo, http://www.apollohq.com with this in mind. We implemented a powerful calendar, timers, etc. We could have spent the same amount of resources developing a _very_ complete CRM. However, as I said at the beginning, having CRM + project management together makes a difference. Or, at least that's what we think!

Do you still use Heap? This is certainly a challenge - finding the right CRM. Have you/did you looked at Batchbook?

hey Christopher,

Lead Zeppelin, www.leadzep.com has both Leads and Deals, as well as custom fields and web-to-lead forms. Maybe it can bridge the gap between Highrise and Heap for you?

I loved this article... I have gone basically through a similar road with CRM's. I was an ACT! user since the early 1990's but as you said, it went downhill and they stopped making it for Mac's. Then I went hunting with no satisfying results.

Now I will try Heap. I will let you know.

Thanks,
Nigel

Chris, I've been messing around with Heap for a week or so. It doesn't seem to have a field for customer birthdates. I can add a custom field, but then I don't know if it's easy to search for all birthdays for a specific month. Do you have any thoughts?

Thanks.

Chris, I totally agree in regards to Etelos, it's a bit rough. Although their email campaign is slick. You can set up a campaign which automatically sends designated emails at different intervals.

I can't seem to find if Heap is able to do the same thing.

Thanks again for the review ... John

Chris,

Man on man, I wish I stumbled upon this post before spending 16+ hours evaluating a dozen online CRM products, including all those mentioned in this post.

You are dead on in your evaluations! Each of your observations is essentially what I have in my notes.

And the best? Last night at about 10pm I discovered Heap, and like you, almost immediately I was liking it. The UI could sure use some lipstick, but ease of use coupled with Google integration was the kicker for me.

However I was more impressed with Highrise than you I think. I really like the "cases" and "deals" fucntionality.

Great post! Great blog!
