I finished “the Origin of Brands,” by Al and Laura Reis.
It is persuasive and compelling–the gist is this: You will survive if you have one idea/theme/product and are congruent with it. As a Realtor and as a Mortgage Lender, I’ve always been afraid to limit myself, to narrow my market too much.
I was originally–in 2003–going to serve “affordable Colmbus,” and eschew homes over $250k or so in price. Here in Columbus, OH, that makes a ton of sense. Though the mean price is 200+, there are so many homes close to the mean that it makes a lot of sense to stay at this level.
I got afraid. I didn’t want to lose out on the elusive million dollar sale (and $30k commission). This was wrong.
Rebuilding my business it’s going to be as follows:
Loans will be closed in ten days, period, end of story.
This is a sprint compared with the way that they had been handled in the past.
