Video Is Not Why We’re On The Net!

by chris

Am I missing something with this “video”wave?  When I click on a link, and a video starts playing, I usually can’t hit Alt-F4 or CTRL-W fast enough.  I feel cheated.  I wanted to read a reaction, in two seconds, not sit through a preroll ad to see a quick soundbyte.  I want to read the quote.  The presence of “suprise! video!” diminishes every single thing on the web.

Yet it’s getting to be more.  I want to skim 6-12 stories in 2 minutes.

I want to surgically remove the value out of an idea, and then MOVE ON.  And I want it as fast as I think.  Blip Vert Fast. I don’t want ponderously slow and predictable news coverage.

I want to skim text, and I am in the minority.

It pisses me off to no end that this is the case.

NO, this doesn’t mean I’m anti-video.  Video is hugely powerful supporting information.  I’m glad for it.  It’s just NOT the stuff that’s on the web.
