When my mother turned to my husband two years ago and (no holds barred) said: “Jesse, you are fat”. He promptly lost 24 pounds. You are so right on the money with this one, Chris.

Even further in that line of thinking I have been hesitant to compliment someone on a weight loss because then it seemed like I was saying they were fat before.

Sounds stupid but that is how “sensitive” I have been at times.

I wish people were more honest so there was less tip-toeing.

I love the truth in this post. I too was 40+ pounds overweight… for far to many years and had to get sick of myself before I committed to losing the weight. Maybe if more people had “said it like it was” I might have addressed it sooner.

Your 5 things to say – really hit home, especially the first one. Choice of words to use – well that’s up to the person delivering the message – but your point is very well taken.

I appreciate the ‘genuine’ nature of your message. Thanks!
